Sexual Assault is not the Woman's fault By: Hunter johnson

Sexual assault is any type of sexual contact or behavior that occurs without the explicit consent of the recipient. Falling under the definition of sexual assault are sexual activities as forced sexual intercourse, forcible sodomy, child molestation, incest, fondling, and attempted rape.

The main issue that we are seeing is the shaming of woman for what sexual assaulter is to blame for. Society is blaming the crime on the victims, and as a result, more women keep it a secret and extremely effected, physically and emotionally.

Research says that 1 in 5 women in college are sexually assaulted, and that's not taking into account the amount of women who don't tell anyone.

I chose this topic because it is something that is very close to me, and I want to spread more knowledge about it. People don't know that much about rape and how much it effects way too many people. I plan on arguing my point that it is not the Woman's fault, no matter what society has to say. I want to show people how big of a problem this is.

Woman think that they can not say anything about they're experience because the world is telling them that they should have been more careful or you shouldn't have worn that. This is wrong, women should not be scared to get justice for what happened to them.

Research Questions: Why does society point the finger at women for sexual assault cases? How can we make it clear that it is, in no way, the woman's fault? Why do women feel so ashamed for something they didn't agree to?

Potential Counterarguments: Women are at fault for the sexual assault against them because they were drunk, or, their clothes were provocative or they were just asking for it.

Through my research, I plan on spreading my knowledge about sexual assault and empower people to know that it's not the woman's fault, that it is no way, her fault for being violated. I want argue why rapists are at fault, not the women.
