Lura yoga trek 2021 A trek to Nepal with Australia's First Female Everest Summiteer November 2021

New date: due to the pandemic currently affecting us all, our October 2020 trek is postponed to November 2021. Please email brigittemuiroam@icloud.com for detailed notes and updates. Stay well, and talk soon! 🙏🏻

I have been sharing my second home in Solu, below the Everest region, since 2011. This trek is for those who want to discover the real Nepal, life in a small subsistence community, the beauty of forest trails and mountains beyond, the cultural richness of Nepal and the warmth of its people. You will walk up to six hours on some days, and you have the option to enjoy yoga sessions with Dr Patricia Mottram, whether you are a beginner or a seasoned practitioner.

From bottom left clockwise: Patricia Mottram, Brigitte Muir, yak at Tenkharka ( 3200m), walk to Boldok (2585m).

Pat and I love sharing what we do with people who are just mad enough to give themselves time and the opportunity to grow their comfort zone, their love of the great outdoors, their yoga practice, their experience of another culture, their desire to help other people better their lives. We will fit in when suitable a pre breakfast sun salutation and an evening meditation.

HOW FAR AND HOW HIGH? Most of the trip is in moderate and manageable altitudes. Kathmandu is only 1,400 meters above sea level. Some people may get mild altitude symptoms over 2,500 meters. The highest our group stays is at 3,200 meters which is 2,300 meters lower than Everest base camp, yet 1000 meters higher than the summit of Australia’s highest point, Mount Kosciuszko.

On some days, we walk a maximum of 6 hours with plenty of rest between, and because our trip is fully supported, we only carry a light day pack with basic essentials for the day. This makes travelling much easier.

It is however essential that you get into a routine of walking in the bush, up and down on trails, to get used to the terrain. Nepal is not a flat country! We can help you with advice to get fit, but it is your responsibility to put in the time. Spending time in nature is good for the soul, so why not do it to stay healthy and fit as well and keep at it after our Nepal adventure!

AM I TOO OLD, TOO YOUNG FOR THIS? We believe that only those who are meant to be taking part in this journey will become members on our wonderful adventure, and have had participants well in their seventies who were stronger than some others much younger members! If you are willing to get out of your comfort zone and to surprise yourself with what you can achieve, regardless of your shape or age, well, shoot us an email, and let’s talk about it! You will need a medical certificate from your doctor and dedication to getting fitter, but hey, it’s all worth it! brigittemuiroam@icloud.com
