RP ANALYSIS: An interesting race, the winner came from well off the pace and is a middle distance horse for next year. TAIPAN raced well off the pace and never travelled at any stage in a race run at a good gallop. When Foley pulled him towards the outer early in the straight he began to pick up and run on, and by the time they met the rising ground in the last furlong he had all of the momentum. He is clearly a strong stayer and one to look forward to over a trip next year. Whether soft ground is a key to him, time will tell.
