America's Favorite Sport By: Cade McCoy

Baseball has been providing Americans with fun and entertainment for more than 150 years. Way before then, baseball was forming in other countries.

The first form of baseball dates back to the 1300's. It all started in Russia, with the bat and ball game known as Lapta.

Using a stick as a bat and a rock as a ball, the game of baseball was born in Russia.

From Russia, to England, to Canada, baseball has been influenced by the whole world.

The first form of baseball in America though, was actually played by the children. Whether the kids came up with the game or were from another country that already had the game is hard to tell, but it's probably a mixture of both.

This led to the first form of organized baseball in America in Hoboken, New Jersey, on June 19, 1846.

This game was altered and changed by many people. Most importantly, Abner Doubleday and Alexander Cartwright. The game eventually evolved into modern-day baseball.
