Southwestern opens their eighth season of competition and Head Coach Bill Bowman has much to be excited about as he returns the top five goals scorers in junior Matt Amerie, sophomore Kai Knight-Turcan, junior Jordan Riggs, sophomore Jared Welsh and senior Matthew Montagne.
Matthew Montagne (16 goals, 19 assists), Jordan Riggs (19 goals, 13 assists) and Jared Welsh (19 goals, 12 assists) were the top three point-getters on the year last season while Amerie led in goals scored (26) with Knight-Turcan close behind (22).
The biggest change for Southwestern this season will be on the defensive end as the Pirates lost three starting defenders and one middie. SU opens the season for a big rivalry game in Conway, Arkansas against Hendrix College on February 4th. Southwestern won last year's meeting 8-7.
