INTRODUCTION

Las Vegas is the bigest city located in Nevada (U.S.A.). It has a population of 1,951,269 habitants. It's 352 km2 it 's three times the area of Paris. The currency is the dollar ($). It's the principal tourist destination comercial and vacational especially because its casinos. And the averege of temperature is 19 ºC but in summer we can reach 40ºC you don't forget that we are in the desert. There are 211 days a year sunny days. Between Las Vegas and Spain there are 9h of difference.

HISTORY

Las Vegas doesn't seem to have much history but... that's not true. Along time ago it was an Indian settelment. The origin of its name was because a Spanish man called Antonio Armijo saw that there was a beautiful contrast between green zones like the vegas and desert so he decided to call the place LAS VEGAS. In the 19th century the colons occupied the territory. Before 40's that city in the middle of the desert of Nevada increased its population because the construction of the railway and because of the workers of the Hoover dam. After the 40's most of the population was militars that were preparing for the 2nd world war.

At first in Las Vegas there was only a casino''The Rancho Vegas'' and from that moment on the tourism began to increase a lot because when The Rancho Las Vegas was burnt a lot of Casinos were built and nowadays Las Vegas is considereted the capital of the second oportunities.

TWO MAIN ZONES

There are two main streets in this enormous city the Fremont street where all began and the Strip street where there's not night and day.

The Fremont street is a street and also an attraction, It is a peatonal zone covered with an electronic roof called Live Vision of 90 feet high in which you can listen to music of famous groups and bands in live free or you can visit the Neon Museum or to have a bite eating in the Fremont Shopping Centere.

STRIP STREET

The Strip street it is weel know as the place of Las Vegas with more hotels and casinos. Who haven't ever seen a film with casinos and slot machines? So it's possible that one of that films was filmed in the strip street. The most important casino of that zone and of Las Vegas is Bellagio

THE GREAT CANYON

Outskirts of Las Vegas is the Great Canyon, it's located in the desert of Arizona (Nevada). The canyon has that shape like if the deser has been cut with a knife because of the erosion of the Colorado river. It's a world heritage since 1979. The experts thinks that it is 6 million years old. There is an activity there in which you can get an helicopter and see the great canyon and the hoover dam.

THE HOOVER DAM

The Hoover Dam is located in the Colorado river on the border between Colorado and Nevada. It's 221m high. It was constructed between 1931 and 1936. It is used for hidroelectricity and irrigation.

TYPICAL FOOD

You can eat in all the casinos. There are a lot of buffets the most importants and the best are the Wynn and the Bellagio, but there are too expensive. The hotel Caesars has cheap buffet with 44 $ you can eat what you want for 24 h. If you like seafood in the Rio's buffet. We can find chinese food and the typical eggs with bacon, pizza and burgers.In all casinos the drinks are free. You can find paella also!

From 370 euros you can find flights to Las Vegas. There aren't direct flights from Madrid to Las Vegas, you have to make a flight stopover in Miami, Chicago or New York so it is a flight of 15h.

How to move in Las Vegas

There are more than 150 buses touring the city. the most popular is the Deuce it is open all day round. Other forms are the taxis or renting a car.
