SHOP LOCAL
In keeping with last month's theme of being city ambassadors, this month I would like to focus on shopping local. The holidays are right around the corner, and it seems that the older I get, the faster the holiday season rolls around.
For some, the hassle of the holiday shopping season and busy stores leads them to shop online, while others head to towns like Jackson and Memphis for the holiday shopping season. This holiday season, I want to encourage you to spend your hard-earned dollars in your hometown of Bolivar.
We have great hometown shops in Bolivar that offer a wide variety of unique gifts. In addition, there will be a multitude of holiday markets in Bolivar and Hardeman County that will offer specialty and homemade items that are sure to please.
Why shop local? You support your local economy. You support local jobs. You encourage and help local business owners and artisans to maintain their business here. You invest in entrepreneurship. You invest in the future of our city and county for your children and grandchildren.
Small businesses are the heartbeat of our city and county. Their advertisements and sponsorships grace our sports fields, our gymnasiums, our yearbooks, our parades, our local newspaper and radio stations, and our community events. So, this holiday season, I encourage you to give back to them.
SHOP LOCAL, SPEND LOCAL, and EAT LOCAL!

MEET YOUR NEIGHBOR
Mr. Stacy Turner
September 2019
September’s neighbor is Mr. Stacy Turner. Stacy was born and raised in Hardeman County. He attended Grand Junction Elementary School and Middleton High School. He moved to Bolivar approximately 15 years ago after marrying his wife, Crystal. They have 5 children and 4 grandchildren. Stacy said that he loves living in Bolivar, and loves the friendly nature of the people in Bolivar and Hardeman County. Stacy said that he is excited about the changes happening in Bolivar and looks forward to seeing what the future will bring for our community.
Stacy has been employed at Dixie Funeral Home for 15 years and finds solace in helping families through their time of sorrow. After talking with him for this segment of Meet Your Neighbor, it is quite evident that he has a genuine, caring disposition and a gift for speaking words of comfort. Thank you, Stacy, for providing that calm, reassuring voice to our citizens and helping them through the most difficult times of their lives.
If you see Stacy out and about, be sure to say HELLO! If you see Mayor McTizic and I out and about, you may be our next featured neighbor!
