Let's Finish Strong as we Prepare for Next Year

As we near the end of school, I just wanted to share how impressed I have been with the Marauder community. You have embraced a difficult situation and supported each other and our community in need.

Please know that our Mt. Vernon staff are preparing for whatever next year may bring us. Our comprehensive planning includes a multitude of aspects: instructional options, sanitizing, schedule contingencies, transportation, and much more. Mt. Vernon staff cares about our students as if they are our own; we want the best for them and to prepare them with a love of learning that leads to a successful life!

All MV Elementaries Receive PLTW Accolade

We wanted to congratulate all three Mt. Vernon elementary schools for being named a 2019-2020 Project Lead the Way Distinguished School. This recognition means they are providing broad access to transformative learning opportunities for students through Project Lead the Way Launch. Specifically, all three elementary schools “are empowering students to thrive in an evolving world and achieving exemplary results from their Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Launch programs.”

McCordsville Elementary, Mt. Comfort Elementary and Fortville Elementary School are among 404 PLTW Launch programs across the nation to receive this recognition this year.

PLTW President and CEO Vince Bertram shared, “The work you do is among the most important you do in our society. Designation as a PLTW Distinguished School displays your commitment to increasing access and achievement in PLTW programs.”

Congratulations to the students and staff of McCordsville Elementary, Mt. Comfort Elementary, and Fortville Elementary! For additional details, see the article HERE.

Mt. Vernon High School Principal, Mr. Casey Dodd, shared, “We are extremely proud to receive this accolade as it represents all the hard work and dedication that our students and staff put in to ensure our graduates are ready for their next step after finishing their time at MVHS."

Online Kindergarten Registration is Open!

MVCSC Kindergarten Classes

Now is the time to make sure your incoming Mt. Vernon kindergarten student is registered to attend Mt. Vernon Schools in the fall. It’s imperative we have early numbers of students so we can prepare the appropriate number of amazing teachers to care for your child. There are three steps on your path to kindergarten, with perks along the way:

1. Online Registration - See the Kindergarten Registration links in the article on www.mvcsc.k12.in.us. Each kindergarten student receives a welcome packet & MV folder!

2. Paperwork - Submit the appropriate paperwork (listed on the website) to your elementary school via email or in-person after the buildings open. Then take a virtual tour and sign up to meet/greet the principal!

3. Back to School Night (if allowed) - Take an onsite visit and meet the teachers!

Food Distribution Extended through June

Since March 31, the MVCSC Food Service team has distributed 55,115 meals to those 18 and younger. They have worked tirelessly to feed our young community and should be commended for their efforts, led by Ms. Doris Johnson, Food Services Director.

We recognize that many Mt. Vernon families are going through difficult times right now and are depending on this program. MVCSC is pleased to announce that the food service distribution will continue through June 26 for those 18 and younger.

From 11 a.m. - 1 p.m. on the days listed below, parents/guardians should place a large sign of the number of people 18 or younger in their household that need meals and open your trunk at Mt. Vernon High School Door #7.

  • Monday, May 18
  • Tuesday, May 26
  • Monday, June 1
  • Monday, June 8
  • Monday, June 15
  • Monday, June 22

Thank you MVCSC Food Service Staff for all your hard work!
