The An Eye for Design Photography Experience

Have you had your portraits taken before and the disk or USB is sitting in a drawer somewhere? Have you been meaning to get those images printed and hung on the wall? An Eye for Design Photography strives to make sure that you are getting those precious memories out of a drawer and displayed for you and your family to cherish for years to come.

An Eye for Design Photography is a full service boutique photography business. My goal is to make sure you not only have an amazing session that leaves you with fun memories but also to provide you with heirloom quality prints and products that will last a lifetime.

No more files hidden away in drawers for no one to see. About two weeks after your session you’ll have your reveal night where you’ll get to see all of your images for the first time. That night we’ll work to create amazing products to showcase your entire session. I’m guessing that right now you’re saying “But I want the digital files!”. Don’t worry I completely understand where you’re coming from. I value digital files as much as you do (otherwise I wouldn’t have a stack of hard drives filled with precious family memories!). An Eye for Design Photography offers collections that include digital files along with the quality products for your family to enjoy. You’ll get the best of both worlds AND get them for a lower price when they’re combined in a collection. Doesn’t get much better than that! I am excited to begin this creative journey with you!

Planning Your Session

Your senior session is all about celebrating the next milestone in your life. When planning for your senior session it’s easy to get overwhelmed with the planning of the outfits and choosing the perfect location. It’s a good thing for you that these are my specialties!

Here are a few tips as we begin to plan your session. Remember that I’m here with you through the whole thing so be sure to relax and let things flow!

When we’re deciding on a location think about places you LOVE and have the most fun. This could be your backyard, favorite park, the beach, or the field in which you have played a varsity sport for 4 years! Wherever it is we’ll make sure to capture you being you in a natural way and having FUN!

When choosing outfits refer to the “What to Wear” portion of this guide and remember it’s likely you can choose right from your own closets!

What To Wear

What you wear is key for a successful session. Clothing complements who you are, speaks to the environment in which the session is taking place, and coordinates with the home where final images will be displayed. Your style should be as unique as your are, so I’ve put together some clothing advice for a creative, comfortable session.

Be sure to plan your outfits completely a few days before your session. Here are some general rules of the road for making picture-perfect fashion decisions:

Choose a palette of 3-4 colors and mix it up, including both pants and dresses. If you are being photographed with a sibling or friend, you will want a cohesive feel, but without being overly ‘matchy-matchy’. Picture a page in a clothing catalog where everyone coordinates, but nobody stands out more than the rest.

• Light clothes look better on lighter backgrounds, and dark clothes look better on darker backgrounds.
• Generally, sleeveless shirts and shorts on adults tend not to flatter, but layered clothing is fabulous.
• Arrange your outfits ahead of time on a big bed, including accessories.
• Make sure all clothes are clean and pressed and on hangers a few days before your session.
• Remember, shoes must be clean and stylish, too.
• Keep all make up natural and it is a great idea to have your hair professionally done for our session.

After the Session

You’ve already had a blast at your session but now things are about to get even better! Two weeks after your session we’ll have your reveal night (we’ll schedule this at the same time we schedule your session to make sure you see your images as soon as possible!). On your reveal night you’ll see all of your images for the first time. It’s definitely something to get excited about!

That night I’ll come to your home and show you and your parents a custom slideshow with your images. I will also bring along prints, wall art and products that you touch and feel.

After you’ve experienced the slideshow you’ll have some time to go through all of your images and take a look at all of the product samples. Seeing everything in person will really give you a sense of what products are most important to you. My favorites are framed collages and image boxes (because I can never decide on which images to choose)!

You’ll have plenty of time to ask any questions, to hold up images to different walls in your own home to see what sizes will work best and enough time to pick out your favorites.

The collections on the following page have been put together to give you the absolute best quality product for the best value. Those collections are available on reveal night only. No need to worry if the products in the offered collections don’t fit you’re needs, all products are available a la carte as well and are 20% off on reveal night!

The goal of the reveal night is to finalize your order so we can get your prints and products to you as soon as possible. To help make this stress free it’s a great idea to take a look through all of the different products and collections so you can go into it with an idea of what might work best for you. Once you’ve seen your images that may change but it’s always good to have an idea when we get started!

When all the fun of the reveal night is over, you’ll have a short wait before you’ll have those images in your hands! Digital files purchased will be made available within 24 hours and you can expect to have your prints and products in hand within 2-4 weeks. When everything is in we’ll schedule a time that I can hand deliver everything to make sure it gets there safely!
