I'm back from Las Vegas where I attended WPPI's annual convention (Wedding and Portrait Photographer's International)--the place where all the magic happens. I browsed and attended exhibit after exhibit of new equipment, modeling and design inspiration, instructional seminars on strategy and technicality, and of course witnessed the unveiling of brand new software technology and editing tools--it was an overload for the senses and imagination. I make a huge effort every year to attend workshops and conventions because that is where I can see new things, surround myself with exceptional talent, absorb fresh perspectives and adopt the ideas that can enhance and improve my own photography and thus the experience I can offer my clients. It's easy to get bogged down in running a business--the day to day mundanity isn't very much fun. Need I mention sales tax and insurance? Or, my inbox??? These trips away remind me that first I am a lens artist. That inspiration is everywhere. That portraits are storytelling. That photo journaling an important occasion is a relationship and an active shaping of collective memory. That you give me a place of trust, and I hope, I give you back your day, over and over, for a lifetime. Thanks for your support and your confidence. I can't wait for spring wedding season to kick off!

Didn't do much gambling but ate a TON of cappuccino gelato!
