White House History
In 1791 George Washington selected the site of where to put the White House. The cornerstone was laid in 1792. In 1800 President John Adams and his wife Abigail moved into the unfinished White House. During the War of 1812, the British set fire on the White House in 1814. In 1817 President James Monroe Moved to the finished White House.

The White House Basketball Court has been used for games by presidents and their staff. It has 2 hoops. George H.W. Bush installed it in 1991. Some of the wounded Warriors came to play wheelchair basketball and Barack Obama came to watch and play a bit.
The first film to be shown in the Family Theater was shown in 1915. the movie was called The Birth of a Nation. He probably screened it on the Second Floor Central Hall. The President gets his own armchair in the front of the Theater. In the front of the Theater everybody sitting in the front gets an armchair. It is located in the East wing. There are more than 20 chairs in the Theater.
The Jackie Kennedy Garden.
The Jackie Kennedy Garden is located at The Residence Floor. The Jackie Kennedy Garden was dedicated by The First lady of the President Lyndon B. Johnson , Mrs. Johnson. It is filled with tulips, Rosemary, Thyme and other herbs.
