Texas A&M-Kingsville Wind Symphony named semi-finalist in national competition
Texas A&M University-Kingsville’s Wind Symphony has made the list of semi-finalists in the American Prize National Nonprofit Competitions in the Performing Arts.
The organization announced the semi-finalist bands and wind ensembles for the year 2019 to 2020 on Jan 29, 2020.
The Wind Symphony, directed by Dr. Scott Anthony Jones, is one of seven ensembles to make the university division list. The ensemble is the premiere concert band at A&M-Kingsville and serves the region through concert tours, clinics and its High School Invitational Concert series. The Wind Symphony has been previously recognized for its outstanding performances at the Texas Music Educators Association Convention and the College Band Directors National Association Southwest Division Conference in Houston.

The display cases outside of the campus bookstore and the MSUB ballroom have been decorated in recognition of Black Heritage month. Amongst the display is a shelf dedicated to alumni publications, which include the book Show Up and Shine by alumnus and staff member, Angel Hoodye.
