Love was in the air and at the track! In February, our drivers took on the Stewart (B) 2.97-mile course. We had both sunny and rainy skies both days of our races as 14 Prototype and 11 Sports Car drivers battled it out on the track!
Weather conditions that weekend, along with our always exciting races, made the competition even more fierce! From full course cautions to a few vehicles going off track, this weekend was full of anticipation. Friday morning started out a bit slick on the track, delaying our races a bit, but the weather soon cleared up, proving to be a beautiful day for racing. Saturday’s races had the opposite effect, with perfect weather all day until our last Sports Car race ended, just in time before the stormy skies rolled back in.
Leading the way for the first time as our pace car this weekend in the Spring Mountain Race Series was none other than the new 8th generation Corvette! Blake Mycoskie also raced with us for the very first time in the Prototype Rookie class in his Radical SR3. Additionally, three track records were broken for this track configuration, including Tony Bullock who beat his previous 2019 record. Tony came back with a vengeance this weekend, claiming first place and fastest lap in all three Prototype races, along with surpassing his main competitor, Mitch Bishop, with an overall 20-point lead in the competition! Way to go Tony!
As always, we want to show our love and gratitude to our amazing sponsors – Blue Marble Cocktails, Dakine, Vertra, and Michelin. Thank you to Spring Mountain Racing for always being ready for any quick changes that weather conditions required, as well as the rest of our track support and staff that keep everything running safely and smoothly. We are officially halfway through the Club Spring Mountain Race Series and can’t wait for all the excitement to come!
