This space is for us.
We, who have been spat at while walking to school.
We, who must stay on alert at the grocery store, worried about people glaring at us.
We, whose child came home from school asking us, Will we be forced to leave the country? — because her classmates said we are no longer welcome.
We, who are scrambling to find a new home for our family because the landlord would not share a roof with heathens.
History tells us that authoritarian regimes grow and thrive out of people’s fear and silence. We are going to change that.
We will not let hatred and fear take our voices away.
We will tell our stories and give voice to the rest of the Clemson family.
We will be silent no more. Hear us roar.
