Psalms 119:57-60 - You are my portion, O Lord; I have promised to obey your words. I have sought your face with all my heart; be gracious to me according to your promise. I have considered my ways and have turned my steps to your statutes. I will hasten and not delay to obey your commands.

Worship: In worship, we promise obedience to God, and we remember his promises to us. Thank him that he is a promise-keeping God.

Genesis 9:12-17 - And God said, “This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life. Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth.”

So God said to Noah, “This is the sign of the covenant I have established between me and all life on the earth.”

Remember: God has made a promise with all life on earth. And he is so practical and clear. God creates a sign that all of us can recognize - the rainbow. It shouts out to us, "God keeps his promises." It also reminds God of his promise.

Luke 2:25-32 - Now there was a man in Jerusalem called Simeon, who was righteous and devout. He was waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not die before he had seen the Lord’s Christ. Moved by the Spirit, he went into the temple courts. When the parents brought in the child Jesus to do for him what the custom of the Law required, Simeon took him in his arms and praised God, saying:

“Sovereign Lord, as you have promised, you now dismiss your servant in peace. For my eyes have seen your salvation, which you have prepared in the sight of all people, a light for revelation to the Gentiles and for glory to your people Israel.”

Believe: Jesus fulfills God's promise to all mankind. He not only withholds destruction on the earth, but he offers salvation to all through Jesus.

2 Peter 3:13-15 - But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, the home of righteousness.

So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him. Bear in mind that our Lord’s patience means salvation, just as our dear brother Paul also wrote you with the wisdom that God gave him.

Surrender: God has also promised a new heaven and a new earth. Make every effort to be blameless before him. He is patiently waiting….

God always keeps his promises. Will you be a promise-keeper? What promises have you made to God? Are you following through?
