The Lonely Christmas Tree by Dana Johnston

As I was walking home from school one cold afternoon, I was sad and lonely. My mom and dad were at work and my big sister had moved away to college. I had tried to get my parents to put up our Christmas decorations the past weekend and go pick out our tree, but they were too busy. I started singing Christmas Carols to make myself feel better.

Before long, I saw a tiny little misshapen Christmas tree sitting in the middle of the field. It looked like someone had cut it down and then decided they didn't want it.
