Vibrant, innovative and well connected...

Guildford has one of the most vibrant economies in the UK, well known for its innovation and entrepreneurship. Access to investment is excellent and this shows in the number of start-up businesses who choose Guildford as their base. Just 30 miles from London, good connectivity to London Heathrow and Gatwick airports, excellent environment and quality of life - these are just some of the reasons why Guildford is a good place to do business.

We have a thriving day and night time economy and work closely with our BID company, Experience Guildford. Guildford is currently bucking the trend in terms of footfall and vacancy rates. We are the only town in Surrey to hold the prestigious Purple Flag award for a safe and diverse evening and night out and our regeneration projects in the town will enhance this further.

This will help drive the commercial roll-out of future mobile technologies and Internet of Things applications. The Centre hosts an impressive partner network of investors and strategic partners including Huawei, BT and Vodafone.

The University of Surrey, named UK University of the Year in 2016 by The Times, contributes over £1bn to the economy and has been the driver for much of the local area's growth. The Surrey Research Park, owned by the University, has over 120 companies located there, all of which invest significantly in research and development. The Park is also the location for the Surrey Technology Centre which has a range of dynamic early stage businesses supported by the award winning Set Squared Partnership and the Surrey 100 Angel Investor network.
