Welcome to the FHHC Outreach Blog

Thank you for joining us as we move forward on our journey to ending homelessness in the Fairbanks North Star Borough. If you have pictures and stories you would like to add please email Sheryce Borgatti at sborgatti@fairbanks.us

Fairbanks Resource Agency Senior Resource Fair

Caregiver and senior resource agencies from all over the community came together on 9/12/2018 to provide materials to anyone in need. Fairbanks Resource Agency put the event together and offered a wide variety of services for free to seniors and caregivers of seniors as well. Thank you FRA for all you do!

FHHC Outreach Coordinator, Sheryce Borgatti, went to the streets with the Golden Heart Angels In Motion group to distribute lunches, water, and flyers for the Winter Blanket Warm Up event. Here she is with a new friend letting him know about the event and inviting him to come get warm.

Leona McDaniels is a proud volunteer of the Golden Heart Angels In Motion group. Here she is bringing a new friend some lunch and water on a sunny fall afternoon.

Leona uses her lunch break during the day to go hand out donated lunches and water to those in need. The entire group focuses their efforts on those who are on the streets of Fairbanks. Handing out lunches, water, and warm community spirit to every person they talk to.

104 people attended the Winter Blanket Warm Up event at JP Jones Community Development Center. No Limits INC. handed out donated blankets and pillows to anyone who asked. Angels In Motion served up some great hot dogs and burgers to keep our bellies full!

Enjoying chips and company. Two of the best things in the world!

The Salvation Army gave out 92 vouchers to their thrift store, 38 sweat jackets with pants, 36 sweat jackets, and two Hello Kitty pajama sets! a total of 76 warm items handed out!

A large thank you to Billie Kassel with Angels In Motion & Kelvin Lee from No Limits INC/JP Jones Community Development Center for getting the wheels turning for this event!

Bringing resources and community support to the West Valley Education Support Staff on September 22nd. Support our community educators, and we have made a huge leap in supporting our community. There were about 15 different community service providers at this event, each one offering different support and resources, and overall making Fairbanks proud.

Thank you to Stacy Strubinger and Gracie Allers from the local Fairbanks Job Center! There are tons of resources available for those in need of employment skills training. Check them out by clicking the button below!

The Prevention Team from the Interior Center for Non-Violent Living (IAC) with loads of great info for programs in town, and a super cute little helper! Why wait until you can talk to start helping those in need?? Thank you Helen and Courtney for doing what you do!

VISTA in Action!

The Fairbanks Noel Wien Library is a not so secret gem of wonderful resources. It is just amazing to me how much they offer for community members, including a beautiful cozy spot to relax as you read and work! Thank you Ashton Varner for the service you do at the NWL. Click below to help contribute to the community survey regarding library usage in the community!!

Fairbanks Youth Advocate's "The Door" is Fairbanks' only youth shelter. They have created such a wonderful and safe space for youth struggling with the world around them. Not only are they a shelter, but they also focus intensely on community awareness and additional youth development skills. Thank you Kelli Boyle and the rest of the staff at The Door for all you do for our youth in need!!

"Assisting Individuals With The Courage To Change Their Lives " --Restore inc.

Restore Incorporated is bringing new and exciting opportunities to support incredibly vulnerable individuals in our community. Restore Inc focuses on promoting smooth transitions for those reintegrating into the community after incarceration. They also hold a special program known as Strive which is there to advocate for and assist father's in gaining the tools and supports necessary to be strong, loving, and successful role models for their children. Thank you Amy Miller and the rest of the staff at Restore Inc!

Look at this great team of professionals!!! Fairbanks Native Association brought their efforts towards Suicide Prevention to the West Valley in-service that day, and they came full force! FNA offers a multitude of different programs to increase the well-being of the community, and suicide prevention is one of the big focuses currently. Thank you (from left) Caleb Nay, David Fogner, Caroline Ramos, Alicia Brawley, and Gabrielle Johnson for the work your doing in this community!

Interior Aids Association (IAA) and their Interior Medication Assistance Program (IMAT) are such a great essential service to our community. So many people are currently struggling from addiction and chemical dependency, IAA/IMAT are here to help not only those currently struggling, but also to support those who have loved ones in bad situations. Thank you Maya Bowers and Justine Bates for the work you are doing with IMAT!! IAA also offers a variety of services in addition to IMAT, so be sure to check them out!
