Frida Khalo

Frida Khalo Was born on July 6, 1907, in Coyocoán, Mexico City, Mexico. Frida grew up in family homes. Her father called Wilhelm know as Guillermo was a German Photographer who immigrated to Mexico and met Frida's mother Matilde. When Frida was 6 she contracted polio, which left her in bed for nine months. Frida's father was encouraging her to play soccer and get out there to help her with her disease. Frida has two older sisters called Cristina, and Adriana. Frida was one of the most famous artist known in Mexico. She started painting when she was severely injured in a bus accident.

Frida enrolled in school in 1922 at National Preparatory School, she was one the the fewest females that was in school. Frida was known for her jovial spirit. Diego Rivera went to work at the school he was creating an art piece called, The Creation. Frida would go and see how he would make his art piece, there were sayings about how Frida told a friend that she would one day have Rivera's baby. Frida fell in love with one of the students she would hang out with named Alejandro Gómez Arias. They were traveling all around on September 17, 1925, when they were traveling they collided with a streetcar, Frida was impacted by a steel handrail that went through her hip and came out the other way. She painted her first self- portrait during recovery and she gave it to Gómez Arias. Soon Frida joined a young Communist League and a Mexican Communist Party.

Frida went to go live in Paris for a while in 1939. She showed some of her art work and developed a friendship with the another artist such as Marcel Duchamp and Pablo Picasso. Her and Rivera got married in the year of 1929, Rivera would encourage Frida's artwork and from there they began a relationship. Soon they divorced later in the year of 1939 . During the time , she's painted one of her most famous work named, The Two Fridas. The two paintings were based upon herself. They were both sitting side by side with both of their hearts exposed. One Frida is about her being all dressed up in nearly all white and has a dame heart and spots of blood on her cloths. Second Frida wears a bold colored clothing that has an intact heart. The painting was a representation of her unloved and loved versions of Kahlo. Frida didn't stay divorced with Rivera not Long. They remarried in the year of 1940 , but they lived very long lives, over the year they were becoming involved with other peoples lives. Kahlo received a commission from the Mexican government to make five portraits that were important to Mexican women in the year of 1941. Frida was unable to finish the project due to her father's death in the year of 1941. Frida continued to suffer from chronic health problems , due to her challenges. Frida painted, The Broken Column in 1944. The painting was Frida being split down in the middle revealing her spine.

Frida died on July 13, 1954, since then her blue house was opened to a museum in the 1970's.
