A grenade is a small bomb thrown by hand or launched mechanically.

These are smoke grenades. They were used to hide there figure when going out in the open.

August 1914 the Germans were ahead of the pack in terms of grenade development.

A rifle grenade is a grenade that uses a rifle-based launcher to permit a longer effective range than would be possible if the grenade was thrown by hand.

Homemade grenades were made using a 16" cane handle with a canister at the bottom. It was ignited by removing a pin at the top.

still today they use grenades. In WW2 there were manufactured 50 million grenades. After WW1 they have stayed in the armory.
