Non-Fiction By:Kara Meyer

Most people think of books when they think of non-fiction. Although, non-fiction can be found in newspapers, articles, Diaries, and magazines.
The purpose of non-fiction is to inform. It tells you facts about real things or times in history.
Non-fiction uses text features to help you understand the information. Some examples are maps, headings, graphs, timelines, captions, and a table of contents.
Do not be tricked!! Some stories give the impression of being non-fiction but are actually realistic or historical fiction. If the story tells you what the main character is thinking it is likely not nonfiction.
