Driving through the Everglades on the Tamiami Trail STORY AND PHOTOGRAPHY BY ROBERT NEFF

Dec 26, 2016. After disembarking from the Norwegian Sky in Miami, I used the scenic route to cut across the Everglades, Instead of taking US 75 toward Naples, I took the Tamiami Trail, US 41. There are parks and air boat rides, visitor centers and much more. The highlight is Clyde Butcher's Big Swamp Gallery, and the alligators sunning themselves and the birds fishing next to the road.

Clyde Butcher's Photography Studio is about an hour from Miami. Easy Drive.

The gallery is in the swamp and there are swamp photography tours an a swamp cottage.

Out back is a 10 minute nature walk.

Orchids on the trees.

Lily flowers were next to the parking lot at Clyde Butcher's.

Alligators sunning on the other side of the guardrail.

Do you see the alligator tail behind the bird?

There are several Indian Villages to visit.

The drive continues toward Naples. The landscape changes to more reeds.

This section is panther country. Several shops and tours have large panther statutes.

Enjoy more stories and images of what I get to enjoy everyday!
