"Heartless"

Kanye West

In the night, I hear 'em talk

The coldest story ever told

Somewhere far along this road, he lost his soul to a woman so heartless

How could you be so heartless?

Oh, how could you be so heartless?

How could you be so, cold as the winter wind when it breeze, yo

Just remember that you talkin' to me though

You know need to watch the way you talkin' to me, yo

I mean after all the things that we've been through

I mean after all the things we got into

Hey yo, I know of some things that you ain't told me

Hey yo, I did some things but that's the old me

And now you wanna get me back and you goin' show me

So you walk around like you don't know me

You got a new friend, well I got homies

But in the end it's still so lonely

In the night, I hear 'em talk

The coldest story ever told

Somewhere far along this road, he lost his soul to a woman so heartless

How could you be so heartless?

Oh, how could you be so heartless?

How could be so Dr. Evil, you bringin' out a side of me that I don't know

I decided we weren't goin' speak so

Why we up three A.M. on the phone

Why does she be so mad at me for

Homie I don't know, she's hot and cold

I won't stop, I won't mess my groove up

Cause I already know how this thing go

You run and tell your friends that you're leaving me

They say that they don't see what you see in me

You wait a couple months then you gon' see

You'll never find nobody better than me

In the night, I hear 'em talk

The coldest story ever told

Somewhere far along this road, he lost his soul to a woman so heartless

How could you be so heartless?

Oh, how could you be so heartless?

Talkin', talkin', talkin', talk

Baby let's just knock it off

They don't know what we been through

They don't know 'bout me and you

So I got something new to see

And you just goin' keep hatin' me

And we just goin' be enemies

I know you can't believe

I could just leave it wrong

And you can't make it right

I'm goin' take off tonight

Into the night

In the night, I hear 'em talk

The coldest story ever told

Somewhere far along this road, he lost his soul to a woman so heartless

How could you be so heartless?

Oh, how could you be so heartless?

The author uses personification multiple times throughout the song, because he says "in the night i hear them talk the coldest story ever told" which is saying the story is cold. That's personification because a story that's being told cannot be cold.

"Goosebumps"

Travis Scott

7:30, you lying

Ooh

I get those goosebumps every time, yeah, you come around, yeah

You ease my mind, you make everything feel fine

Worry about those condoms, and way too numb, yeah

It's way too drum, yeah

I get those goosebumps every time, I need the heimlich

Throw that to the side, yeah

I get those goosebumps every time, yeah, when you're not around

When you throw that to the side, yeah

I get those goosebumps every time

7-1-3 to the 281, yeah I'm riding

Why they on me?

Why they on me, I'm flying, sippin lowkey

I'm sipping lowkey and Onix, rider, rider

When I'm pullin up right beside ya

Popstar, love Mariah when I text a cute game

Wildness, throw a stack on the Bible

Never snapchat or took molly

She fall through plenty, her and all her ginnies

We at the top floor, right there off of Henny

Oh no, I can't fuck with y'all

When I'm with my squad I cannot do no wrong

Saucin' in the city, don't get misinformed

They gon' pull up on you (brr, brr, brr)

We gon' do some things, some things you can't relate

Cause we from a place, a place you cannot stay

You can't go, I don't know

Oh, back the fuck up off me (brr, brr, brr)

I get those goosebumps every time, yeah, you come around, yeah

You ease my mind, you make everything feel fine

Worry about those condoms, and way too numb, yeah

It's way too drum, yeah

I get those goosebumps every time, I need the heimlich

Throw that to the side, yeah

I get those goosebumps every time, yeah, when you're not around

When you throw that to the side, yeah

I get those goosebumps every time

I wanna press my line, yeah, I wanna press my

I want a green light, I wanna be like

I wanna press my line, yeah

I want to take that ride, yeah

I'm gonna press my line

I wanna green like, I wanna be like, I wanna press my

Mama, dear, spare your feeling

I'm reliving moments, peeling more residual

I can buy the building, burn the building, take your bitch

Rebuild the building just to fuck some more

I can justify my love for you and touch the sky for God to stop, debating wall

Put the pussy on a pedestal

Put the pussy on a high horse

That pussy to die for

That pussy to die for

Peter, piper, picked a peppers

I could pick your brain and put your heart together

Read apart, the shady parts and party hard, the diamonds yours

The coupe forever

My best shots might shoot forever like (brr)

I get those goosebumps every time, yeah, you come around, yeah

You ease my mind, you make everything feel fine

Worry about those condoms, and way too numb, yeah

It's way too drum, yeah

I get those goosebumps every time, I need the heimlich

Throw that to the side, yeah

I get those goosebumps every time, yeah, when you're not around

When you throw that to the side, yeah

I get those goosebumps every time

The author uses hyperbole to exaggerate his feelings for this certain person, by saying he gets goosebumps every time he sees her, which I'm sure he doesn't get goosebumps EVERYTIME shes around, so that's an exaggeration.

"Stitches"

Shawn Mendez

I thought that I've been hurt before

But no one's ever left me quite this sore

Your words cut deeper than a knife

Now I need someone to breathe me back to life

Got a feeling that I'm going under

But I know that I'll make it out alive

If I quit calling you my lover

Move on

You watch me bleed until I can't breathe

I'm shaking falling onto my knees

And now that I'm without your kisses

I'll be needing stitches

I'm tripping over myself

I'm aching begging you to come help

And now that I'm without your kisses

I'll be needing stitches

Just like a moth drawn to a flame

Oh you lured me in I couldn't sense the pain

Your bitter heart cold to the touch

Now I'm gonna reap what I sew

I'm left seeing red on my own

Got a feeling that I'm going under

But I know that I'll make it out alive

If I quit calling you my lover

Move on

You watch me bleed until I can't breathe

I'm shaking falling onto my knees

And now that I'm without your kisses

I'll be needing stitches

I'm tripping over myself

I'm aching begging you to come help

And now that I'm without your kisses

I'll be needing stitches

Needle and the thread

Gotta get you out of my head

Needle and the thread

Gonna wind up dead

Needle and the thread

Gotta get you out of my head

Needle and the thread

Gonna wind up dead

Needle and the thread

Gotta get you out of my head

Needle and the thread

Gonna wind up dead

Needle and the thread

Gotta get you out of my head get you out of my head

You watch me bleed until I can't breathe

I'm shaking falling onto my knees

And now that I'm without your kisses

I'll be needing stitches

I'm tripping over myself

I'm aching begging you to come help

And now that I'm without your kisses

I'll be needing stitches

And now that I'm without your kisses

I'll be needing stitches

And now that I'm without your kisses

I'll be needing stitches

The author uses simile to show his feelings towards a girl about how she pulls him in like a flame pulls a moth into it. So he's comparing his attraction to this girl (and how she "pulls him in") to a moth thats drawn (or "attracted") to a flame.

The Dragonfly

By Michela Redmond

The sunlight glistens on the dew

The sound of your wings fluttering by

Your colors are as bright as a warm summers night

Your presence reminds me of love and sadness

Your flight is so flawless like a knife through butter

You remind me of the past

You help me see the beauty in the future

Your grace is as comforting as a gentle hug

Your always near when I need a thought

You spark such feelings I have never felt

The moonlight glistens on the water

One type of figurative language I used was onomatopoeia. I said " The sound of your wings fluttering by" I used an onomatopoeia to describe the sound of the dragonflys wings as it flew by. Another type of figurative language I used was simile. I said "Your colors are as bright as a warm summers night" I was comparing the dragonflys colors to a summers night. Another one i used was imagery. I said "The sunlight glistens on the dew" Im giving you an image of the sunlight shining in the dew.
