5th Grade Band

Synergy March........William Owens

Synergy is a cooperative interaction of two or more entities to produce a greater effect than the sum total of their individual effects. This spirited concert march begins with a crisp melody and bold accompaniment. The middle section features woodwinds and brass separately before bringing them back for their synergistic finish.

Samba La Bamba........William Owens

Samba is a Brazilian music genre and dance style, with its roots in Africa. This work features the percussion section.

Tambora........William Owens

Mount Tambora is an active volcano in the island of Sumbawa, Indonesia. Tambora's eruption of 1815 was the largest and most deadly ever recorded. In its aftermath, the cloud was so dense and widespread that the year 1816 became known as "The Year Without a Summer."

6th Grade Band

Prehistoric Suite......Paul & Theresa Jennings

  1. Mvt 1-Stegosaurus (The Gladiator)
  2. Mvt 2- Brontosaurus (Gentle Giant)
  3. Mvt 3- Pterodactyls (Graceful Giants of the Sky)
  4. Mvt 4- The Battle (Tyrannosaurus and Triceratops)

This suite of four movements introduces young band students to programmatic music. Each short movement musically conveys the style of the movement. As a courtesy reminder, it is customary to wait until all movements are complete before applauding.

The Clarion Call........Larry Clark

The Clarion is an English Trumpet from the Renaissance period. This piece uses the trumpet to introduce a fanfare style melody that becomes the main theme of the work.

7th Grade Band

In Darkest Night........Barry Kopetz

This work by Barry Kopetz begins with a suspenseful feeling before turning to an aggressive theme that completes the selection.

The Bottom Line........Mark Williams

The Bottom Line is a Blues-based rock chart that features our low brass section.

Acclaim........Rob Grice

Acclaim is an exciting contemporary work with energetic rhythms and uplifting themes. It celebrates the journey that music students take to create inspiring performances. While in pursuit of a "perfect performance" students are reminded to take time to celebrate each step of achievement long the way!

8th Grade Band

Afterburn........Randall Standridge

Afterburn depicts the excitement and exuberant feeling of flight. This piece seeks to capture the feeling of excitement at take off, awe at the beauty of the Earth, and a burst of joy when the afterburners kick in!

Blues Machine........Carl Strommen

Blues is a music genre and musical form which was originated in the Deep South of the United States around the 1870s by African Americans from roots in African musical traditions, African-American work songs, and spirituals.

Cha' La (The Volcano Goddess)........Randall Standridge

This is an intensely evocative and dramatic work for young band. The piece incorporates a number of effects including chanting, clapping, driving rhythms and biting, dissonant harmonies to create a cinematic portrait of an imaginary island facing the threat of a volcanic eruption.
