EMBRACING FAMILY ENGAGEMENT! The Embrace Girls Foundation's Family Engagement Initiative

When authentic relationships between families, educators and community based programs are built, everyone wins!

No one could ever have imagined weeks following our Black History Month presentation of the internationally acclaimed award winning production of AFRICA UMOJA - one of the country's last cultural experiences attended by live audiences the world changed.

Covid-19 Pandemic changed the trajectory of the world last March pushing our already under served families into deeper financial, emotional, educational and social uncertainties, fear and despair.

However, despite the challenges and the unknown, The Embrace Girls Foundation immediately activated its Emergency Action Plan bringing together a coalition of individuals, businesses and community partners to meet not only the needs of our enrolled families but the communities in which they live.

It began like this:

Our first priority was to ensure that our families were prepared by providing technical support and resources necessary to embrace their on line experience through the end of the most challenging school year of all times.

To meet the needs of many our families experiencing food insecurities we began meal distributions powered by the Miami Dolphins, Kathy's Catering and BBQ Rib Shack restaurants.

Meals and Milk

Over 5,000 meals and 1,800 gallons of milk provided weekly since March (and is currently on going). Delivered to homes, schools and churches via Drive Up, Walk Up and Door to Door drop offs.

Once those needs were successfully met, we then began our Summer programming providing well organized fun activities and on line experiences the entire family could engage in and my, did we have an amazing time.

And before you knew it, it was time to begin preparations for the new and uncertain school year surely however, to begin at a distance for most.

Embrace Girls were ready for School on day one much thanks to our amazing partners and sponsors. Embracing Families

Difficult times require extra measures and our team embraced the challenge by providing

  • Transportation for parents who are essential workers to safely commute to and from work
  • Welfare Checks drive-up to ensure our families and their extended families they were concerned about were safe and well i.e, elderly or disabled parents, kids at home without adult supervision

Therefore, your support is needed today more than ever as we remain in a severely fragile state of being thus, the need of our families remain great.
