Catie Busser

Hello! My name is Caitlyn Busser, but I go by Catie. I grew up in Ashburn, VA with my parents and three younger brothers. My mother homeschooled all of us for elementary and middle school. My youngest brother is starting public school as a 9th grader this fall, so this is my mother's last year of homeschooling after 18 years!

My family
My 2 year old class from Summer 2016

I started working with young children my sophomore year of high school. I fell in love with teaching young children and have been working with them ever since. I have spent many years as an assistant and lead teacher at a variety of childcare centers, with children age 6 weeks to 12 years old.

For my undergraduate degree, I am receiving a B.S in early childhood with a concentration in special education, as well as a minor in women's and gender studies, which I expect to graduate with in May 2017. After graduation, I will be working towards my M.S, which I expect to graduate with in May 2018.

My 1st Grade Classroom

I am pursuing this degree because I want to help all children achieve their maximum potential. All children deserve the chance to grow and learn in the least restrictive environment. I want to be a positive impact on each child's life. Within the next 5-10 years, I would love to be working in my own 1st grade inclusive classroom and/or working towards a doctorate in education.

Things I hate

Things that bug me: 81 and semi-trucks. Driving on 81 when all the semi trucks is absolutely awful and it's one of the things I hate the most in the world. Having an internship in Roanoke this semester, as well as my semi-regular drives to NOVA to see my family, have solidified my hatred for the these things.

Important People

These the many important people in my life. My family, as well as my friends, have supported me throughout my life and helped me become the person I am today.

Music plays a major roll in my life. I listen to all types of music, because every song has a different story to tell. The above song is my favorite song at the moment, called "Castle on a Hill" by Ed Sheeran. It makes me nostalgic, but also remember how far I've come.
