Hello! My name is Caitlyn Busser, but I go by Catie. I grew up in Ashburn, VA with my parents and three younger brothers. My mother homeschooled all of us for elementary and middle school, as well as homeschooled one of my brothers through high school. My youngest brother is starting public school as a 9th grader this fall, so this is my mother's last year of homeschooling after 18 years!
I started working with young children my sophomore year of high school. I fell in love with teaching young children and have been working with them ever since. I have spent many years as an assistant and lead teacher at a variety of childcare centers, with children age 6 weeks to 12 years old.
For my undergraduate degree, I am received a B.S in Interdisciplinary Studies, as well as a minor in women's and gender studies, which I I graduated with in May 2017. For my graduate degree, I am pursuing a Masters in Education, as well as teaching licenses in early childhood and special education.
I am pursuing this degree because I want to help all children achieve their maximum potential. All children deserve the chance to grow and learn in the least restrictive environment. I want to be a positive impact on each child's life. Within the next 5-10 years, I would love to be working in my own preschool special education classroom and/or working towards a doctorate in education.
Things that bug me: 81 and semi-trucks. Driving on 81 when all the semi trucks is absolutely awful and it's one of the things I hate the most in the world. Having an internship in Roanoke this semester, as well as my semi-regular drives to NOVA to see my family, have solidified my hatred for the these things.
