Become a Lone Star Brahma join OUR tradition

The Lone Star Brahmas are a member of the North American Hockey League, the only Tier II league sanctioned by USA Hockey. Since joining the NAHL five years ago, the Brahmas have produced over 90 NCAA student-athletes.

WHERE WE PLAY

The Lone Star Brahmas play at the NYTEX Sports Centre in North Richland Hills, Texas. The facility boasts two sheets of ice, an attached restaurant, an area for dry land training, and more! As an added benefit, the same ownership group owns the team and the facility, meaning that you will be guaranteed ice time for practices and games - something that not all teams can say. Away from the rink, Brahmas are well-taken care of. Players have access to professional massage and cryotherapy sessions, year-round golf privileges, and a top-of-the-line gym.

North Richland Hills is located in a bustling metropolitan area. Dallas, Fort Worth, and Arlington are all just short drives away. In addition, both D/FW International Airport and Dallas Love Field Airport are conveniently close. This means ease of travel for you, your family, and yes, scouts. In fact, the NYTEX Sports Centre is one of the most popular destinations in the NAHL South Division for scouts. The excellent quality of our HD camera feed during games also means more eyes on our players.

A TRADITION OF SUCCESS

In just five years as a member of the NAHL, the Lone Star Brahmas have already established themselves as one of the top teams in the league.

  • 2017 Robertson Cup Champions
  • Two-time South Division Regular Season Champions

  • Two NHL Draft Picks (Jake Kupsky 2014-15, Cameron Clarke 2015-16)

In addition to individual player awards, the Brahmas have also been honored as the NAHL Organization of the Year and pride themselves on advancing players to the next level.

An elite coaching staff

Head Coach Dan Wildfong has been behind the bench for the Brahmas organization since 2007. He made the transition from the Central Hockey League to the NAHL with the Brahmas organization in the 2013-14 season and boasts a .668 win percentage in five years in the NAHL. He has led the team to a playoff appearance in every year but the first. He also has numerous connections around the hockey world and has been very successful in moving his players on to the next level.

Assistant Coach Justin Hale is coming off his first season with the Brahmas. A goalie and defense specialist, Hale worked all year with the NAHL Goaltender of the Year, Mitchell Gibson. Prior to joining the Brahmas, Hale was an Assistant Coach, Video Coordinator, and Goalie Coach at Bemidji State University, where he helped lead the team to a WCHA title and worked alongside goaltender Michael Bitzer, a finalist for both the Hobey Baker and Mike Richter Awards.
