Las Alpujurras is located in the Andalusia between the peaks of the Sierra Nevada and the coast of the Mediterranean Sea. This destination is suitable for lovers of peace, tranquillity and for those who love the enjoyment and self fulfilment of a relaxed yet self-challenging experience.


Day 1 - Arrive to Almeria-transfer to Mairena

Leave London Heathrow and arrive in Almeria and then transfer to the village of Malrena. You'll spend your first 2 nights in a 'Casa Las Chimeneas', all rooms feature either a terrace or balcony. On the evening you can choose from a sunset stroll around the ancient waterways or relaxing amongst new found fellow trekkers with a traditional jug of sangria. (Dinner included).

Day 2- Day walks from Mairena

After a leisurely breakfast in Casa Las Chimeneas, the first guided trek will commence at 10:00am with an estimated time of 4 hours. This route incorporates the mountain pass of Puerto de la Raga, where stunning views over the plains of Guadix and the 16th Century castle of Calahorra can be seen. Pack lunches will be provided upon request. (Dinner will be served at 18:00)

Day 3- Transfer to Trevelez, day walk

Up bright and early for breakfast at 07:30am before being transfers by a vehicle to the village of Trevelez. This is the highest, westerly village of this trip. You will be able to see a sheer difference in the countryside, compared to the other side of the Alpujurras. Today's trek will be roughly 4 hours long however it does include a steep climb, so be prepared. You will be rewarded with superb views up to the Sierra and down the dramatic drops of the villages and river below. (Breakfast, lunch and dinner included).

Day 4- Walk to Berchules

After breakfast Today's trek will consist of going down the old mule trail, still mainly used by the local farmers to harvest almonds, olives and vegetables. This route winds down the valley passing ancient farm land and forests before descending back into the village of Berchules. You will also be staying in a small friendly run hotel where the option to purchase home cooked food is available. (Breakfast included).

Day 5- Walk to Yegen

During breakfast young will be briefed of Today's exciting trip, however, it will commit of a 6 hour walk from Berchuiels along the local stream before heading eastward over the headland and down into the village of Mecina Bombaron. You will then head down the picturesque route towards the beautiful, small village of Golco and descend into amazing valley, walking alongside ancient waterways and reaching the mysterious, abandoned hermitage of Montenegro. From here you will be picked up for a short 10 minute transfer to your accommodation in Valour. (Breakfast and dinner included).

Day 6 - Walk to Mairena

After breakfast, an early morning 10 minute transfer will take you back to Yegen before Today's walks can begin. We will begin the walk at Cuesta Vinas to the village of Velour before stopping for lunch (optional). After this, a further walk to the small village of Nechitel followed by a final stretch across the almond Terrance and lavender fields. We will then reach our destination back to the beautiful Mairena. You will then have the opportunity to freshen up and relax by the pool before dinner at 18.30. (Breakfast and dinner included).

Day 7 - Day walk from Mairena

On Today's final adventure, we will tackle another high peak of the area, taking around 2 hours, which will then be followed with a relaxing picnic on the gentle rambles whilst seeing some of the nicest views of the whole excursion. This will give you all a chance to reflect on the week with some new friends, in hope that this was a memorable week. A 2 hour descent will take us back to the hotel followed by a final farewell dinner and drinks to celebrate the achievements made by you all in the week. (Breakfast, lunch and dinner included).

Day 8 - Depart

Transfer to Almeria and depart. (Breakfast included).

This trekking holiday is aimed at single, Women's only travellers that want to give walking a go but do not know where to start. This is our lowest physical grade in terms of trekking therefore aimed at novices or nervous individuals however we suggest that a basic level of fitness is required to be able to participate in all activities mentioned. We pride ourselves on responsibility and commitment however we cannot be liable for any activities not taken part due to an individuals personal stamina.
