Sittenfeld was chosen to write a book based off of a Jane Austin novel. She wrote the book Eligible to mirror the famous Pride and Prejudice. So far, her book has been a success.
Eligible is set in current day Cincinnati, Ohio. Sittenfeld has stayed true to Austin's characters and her plot with a few twists in order to modernize the novel.
SPOILER ALERT
Such as, Lydia does not run off with Mr. Wickham. Instead her boyfriend turns on to be transgender! However, they do run off and get married nonetheless.
Don't worry Austin fans, Elizabeth and Darcy still end up together in the end, as do Chip and Jane.
