Welcome back to Term 3, we hope you had a wonderful break!
Our next WIRED program will be held on Friday 16th August! The evening is for students in Years 7 and above, from 7pm to 9pm at the Fox Valley Community Centre.
Wired is organised by the chaplains and staff at Wahroonga Adventist School and local church youth. The concept is about our students having a safe place outside of school hours on a Friday night where they can connect more within our school family and invite their "out of school" friends to a chapel like program.
Adventist Schools New Branding
The Seventh-day Adventist Church shares Jesus and His Word with the world through a variety of ministries, including education. Across Australia, the Seventh-day Adventist church administers almost 60 schools catering for more than 12,000 students. Worldwide, the church operates almost 6000 schools with a total enrolment of over one million students. This network of experience and care enables us to provide your child with a quality education in an ideal environment for them to learn and grow academically, and as a person.
Following adoption of a global identity style by the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Adventists Schools Australia has endorsed the adoption of a new logos and style guide for its education ministry in keeping with the global brand. Schools in the Greater Sydney Conference will, over time, adopt the new logos and style guides to keep consistency with the global brand.
“As part of the Adventist Education philosophy we believe that each child is unique and of immeasurable value. At the heart of Adventist education is a belief that children achieve true growth when their mental, physical and spiritual needs are met. With a focus on personal attention to your child, our independent schools provide a nurturing and caring learning environment where Christian values are upheld. “says the Executive Director of Education Dr Jean Carter. “Our values are formed from our faith and our new brand is a reflection of the strength that embodies”.
You will start to see our new brand rolled out across the school over the coming months, starting with our newsletter.
We wish to reassure parents that there are no plans to change the uniform in the immediate future. Any change to uniform will be done in a consultative manner with all stakeholders and would be phased in over many years to minimise disruption to students and parents.

Outstanding Year 10 Results for Minimum Standards Testing
As a school, we are making significant strides academically, with students in Year 10 achieving outstanding results in the Minimum Standards Tests.
Students now need to achieve minimum literacy and numeracy standards to gain a Higher School Certificate. Year 10 is the first opportunity students have to sit each of the on-line tests in reading, writing and numeracy.
During Week 9 of Term 2, all Year 10 students sat the tests, and all achieved incredible results, with 97.5% of tests sat having met or exceeded the minimum standards. This is an amazing achievement for our students - we are incredibly proud of Year 10. Meeting the standards in a particular area means they do not have to take the test again.
For those students who did not meet the minimum standard, the next tests will be in Week 6, Term 3.
CSSA Basketball Gala Day - 30th July 2019
The CSSA Basketball High School Gala Day took place at Hills Basketball stadium on Tuesday July 30th. Wahroonga was represented by three teams across the open and under 15's age groups. The open boys team had a tough day facing teams predominantly composed of year 11 & 12 students. Our team represented the school with great sportsmanship and a competitive spirit, giving a few of the older and more experienced teams a serious challenge. The under 15's boys and girls teams both made the 3rd v 4th playoff and came home with 4th place. It was excellent to see the high level of sportsmanship and team spirit demonstrated by our Wahroonga students. It is exciting to see the continued development and improvement of our young basketball players.
