Fall Recap Kalamazoo COLLEGE SOFTBALL

From Fall Ball to Alumni Day to pumpkins, we had a fantastic quarter here at K! Check out the events of our busy Fall below!

After our first-years finished orientation, and as our returners moved back in, we hosted a Game Day with three top-notch travel ball teams from around the region. The day was quite rainy, but we did get two games in and followed up with a campus tour to show off our amazing home.

The weather was much more cooperative the next day for our largest camp to date! With our players' help, we had a great day full of instruction, enthusiasm and love for the game. There was NO shortage of talent as the campers showed off their skills!

Fall is our best time of year to get on-field instruction, and this year's weather made for a fantastic Fall Ball season. Our new girls integrated seamlessly into the team, and we saw a LOT of potential for the upcoming season. The team worked hard, got closer, and improved our defensive and offensive strategies.

We saw this growth in action in our Fall games against Oakland CC and UM Dearborn. We missed Bri and Erika, who later watched video of the games in Costa Rica, Kennedy who was still in volleyball season, as well as Erin who was out with injury. The coaching staff, players and (large) group of parent fans were proud of our performance on the day. We are all looking forward to building from there for the regular season!

Nori's home run!

On our last day of the fall season, we hosted our first Alumni Game on the new field. It was a fun-filled game that turned out to be pretty competitive! We mixed teams (Orange vs Black) with alumni combining with current players, and we played a full seven inning slow-pitch game. In the end, Team Black prevailed, but it was a tight game!

We wrapped up our official time together with a new tradition: Halloween Pumpkin Carving Contest! Our girls had to pair up, come up with a design, then either carve and/or paint their pumpkin. The results were impressive! Emma, Anna and Kayla won with their Pumpkin Fish and Alyssa and Hayleigh came in second with their Popcorn Pumpkin. You decide your favorite!

What a great fall it was! The girls had a few weeks to focus on exams after we wrapped up softball, then headed home for the long 6-week break. So everyone enjoy the holiday season, if you're up here in Michigan, enjoy the snow, and everyone stay safe!
