Board Meeting 5/23/2019

Superintendent Travis Dempsey and Joshua Orozco, Santa Teresa Charitable Foundation, hold the District's banner for the Foundation recognizing their Partner in Education association they have with GISD. To date, the Foundation has donated over $400,000 to schools in the Sunland Park area. Representing the Foundation are Susanna Cisneros, Ilse Arreola, Priscilla Garrola, and Jessica Herrera.

These students were awarded Fire 7 tablets by the Foundation for their grades since they were also had won bicycles for their grades in the first semester. Students are Miriam Chin, Geselda Tejeda, Sophia Camilla Flores, Jasmine Valvera, and Juan Najera.

The Santa Teresa Charitable Foundation turned the GISD Board Room into a bike store as they gathered students and bikes during award ceremonies. The Foundation has presented 76 bikes since starting the reward program that recognizes students grades in the first and semester of school.

Gadsden Board annual recognizes top district employees in all categories as part of the New Mexico School Board Association initiative to honor educational employees. The Board this year named these employees after evaluating their nominations and their work throughout the school year. Honorees were, from left, Jorge Araujo, principal, Desert View Elementary, Patricia Garcia, teacher, Chaparral Middle, Robert Parra, teacher, Riverside Elementary, Elizabeth Marrufo, cafeteria manager, Vado, and Lara Sandoval, head custodian at Desert Trail.
