In October we headed for Iceland to drive around the south coast for 7 days.
Beside the normal camera gear I also took the Zeiss Exolens wide angle with me together with my iPhone 8 plus. Capturing behind the scene shots and to see how it is to photograph with the iPhone 8plus.
Icelandic horses
When you drive around the island, you can’t miss these horses. They are everywhere! We stopped a few times to see them and my daughter loved them!
Kirkjufell (Icelandic: Church mountain) is a 463 m high mountain on the north coast of Iceland's Snæfellsnes peninsula, near the town of Grundarfjörður. Kirkjufell was one of the filming locations for Game of Thrones season 6 and 7 and it a famous destination for photographers.
Because of bad weather in the south, we decided to head over to this part of Iceland. And what a beautiful part it is!
Snæfellsnes is also known as mini Iceland with all it’s waterfalls and beautiful conastline. It sure was worth the visit!
The “no drones” signs pop up everywhere! Almost all iconic places are forbidden for drones.
Driving around the west part of Snæfellsnes can take you quite some time. There are spectacular views around every corner.
A must stop location for me was the black church of Búðir.
Also here we can find a lot of those cute Icelandic horses.
When I was looking on google to see if there was something interesting nearby, I found this church. As an architect photographer I love lines and clean shapes. This little church ticked all those boxes, so we had to go over and photograph it.
Driving the Golden Circle is a popular day trip for visitors to Iceland. The 300km route covers many beautiful landmarks in a short period of time. But instead of driving it in 1 day, I’d suggest to take at least 2 days. This way you can stop at every location and immerse yourself in the landscape.
Geysr and Gullfoss are the most known places of the Golden Circle route. And you should really visit them.
When the rain stopped in the southern part, we headed back to Vik and it’s surroundings.
Beautiful play of contrast between the white foam of the waves and the pure black sand
To me this was the most amazing place we saw in Iceland. Diamond Beach and the Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon. It was truly a magical sight to see these big chunks of ice scattered all around the beach.
