Keep The Fire Within December 2020

The winter solstice marks the longest night of the year. It is a turning point, signifying the rebirth of the sun and the return of the light.

It is from darkness that inspiration, strength and life eventually emerge. It is in darkness that our inner light is lit.

Let go of what is not needed anymore. Celebrate the power of faith, that your dreams and affirmations will come into manifestation.

On this day, make a conscious effort to increase the amount of light, positive thoughts, and love in and around you.

Winter's Light

Remember, the holidays can be one of the most joyous times of the year, and they can also be one of the most stressful.

This year especially, light the fire of self care deep within. I encourage you to be proactive with regard to your wellness.

Create your own wellness plan, set aside time in your day and make it a priority. Remember, it can be as little as 10 minutes! Change it up to keep it fresh. Here are a few ideas:

  • MELT - you can take a class, use MELT on Demand, or squeeze in a MELT Map that fits your schedule. Listen to what your body needs. You can MELT every day, but you don't have to MELT for an hour every day. How about a Soft Ball Foot Treatment right after you brush your teeth in the morning? Waiting for the coffee pot to finish up? Try a Quick Hand Treatment! A little too much 'joy' on New Year's Eve? A Rebalance Sequence will move your body in the right direction. Leave your MELT equipment out where you can see it. I keep a cute bowl on my table with MELT balls ready for the taking.
  • MEDITATE - I use an app on my phone called "Calm". It gives me a wide variety of topics, I can use the 'music' feature or listen to sleep stories. There is a free version, which I used for a while before I paid for the annual subscription. There is all kinds of research out there about the benefits of meditation.
  • MOVE - on these dark stormy cold days, I have a harder time motivating myself to get outside. I'm naturally cold, thanks to a malfunctioning thyroid gland, so going outside to get colder is not very appealing. But that doesn't mean I can't get myself moving. Sometimes I get on our elliptical, sometimes I do pushups against my kitchen counter, sometimes I take a Groove Dance class online, sometimes I do squats or a stretching routine. Move whenever you think about it, in whatever way feels good to you.
