  • Originally called "Silverman's Menswear"
  • In 1980 they were called "Retail Venture, Inc"
  • After much success, the company created a subsidiary called "American Eagle Outfitters"
  • Nearly 700 locations modern day

What is the Company Known for?

  • Apparel and Accessory retailer
  • Targets men and women ages 15-25
  • Adjust clothing and rebrands to certain trends
  • American Eagle has mall competitors, such as The Limited, The Gap, and Abercrombie & Fitch
  • Customer credit is offered through an American Eagle Outfitters credit card.

Community Outreach

  • In 2014, AE launched a conservative initiative with high school and college students to protect America's natural resources
  • Partnered with Teach For America that helps provide clothing to students in low income areas
  • In 2013, American Eagle Outfitters contributed more than $400,000 in cash and in-kind donations.

Why American Eagle intrigued me?

  • I have been shopping at American Eagle for about 10 years
  • They offered opportunities in marketing and retailing which is what my major is
  • Always wanted to work in clothing industry
  • Their location in my home town made it accessible and familiar
