Happy Fall, Harris families!
This time of year makes me smile… I love watching our children chase the leaves blowing in the wind at recess – it reminds me to appreciate the small things in life. As the weather cools, remember to dress your children in layers as the temperature can change throughout the day.
The building is alive with discovery throughout the day – our students are learning the new Maravillas/Wonders literacy curriculum and they are also getting to learn through “play” during their Math WIN time. WIN means, “What I Need” and this year – all of our students have a dedicated time weekly to get what they need in math through small groups. Your children are working hard and are, no doubt, very tired when they get home!
We will be celebrating our October HARRIS HERO next week. Two students per class are selected by their teachers each month for following the HARRIS Hero traits of: HONESTY, ATTITUDE, RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY, INITIATIVE and SAFETY. We believe strongly in our behavior expectations and appreciate so much when we see them displayed by your children. Thank you for supporting us!
Our STOMP assembly was amazing! We are so looking forward to the STOMP Fundraiser – Congratulations to Cormac Laughlin for winning the art design contest!! Also, a huge THANK YOU to PTO for organizing the fun!
We are looking forward to visiting with you during October conferences. During this conference, you will not receive a report card. We are focusing on building connections with families and therefore, the conference will be more of a conversation between you and your teachers about the goals for your children this year.
Finally, we asked, and you told us! We hope you like the new newsletter format!
Have a wonderful weekend!
