Race Schedule

Possible 2017 Schedule for the 2017 Roadshow!

Thinking of the all the logistics that are involved in traveling to events can be monumental on its own but to then add training and competing it can become overwhelming. I have put a race schedule together that has something for everyone starting with one of the top events in the country, the Carolina Cup, and finishing with the Chattajack, a 31 mile marathon in October. The goal of SUP Cayuga is to support all paddlers and give them experiences that will be remembered and hopefully this list covers everyone.

Carolina CUP 2017

The Carolina Cup had 563 paddlers across 3 events ranging from the 13 mile Graveyard to the 3 mile Harbor Island in 2016 and expects to grow this year. Most of the top 20 paddlers in the world show up for the event and the atmosphere is one filled with tons of stoke and a feeling of ohana throughout.

The last three years have seen a SUP Cayugan on the podium so we hope this year is no different. We have rented a house (it is next to the yellow one in the upper right corner) and expect to have 18+ paddlers at the event which makes us one of the largest groups in attendance (part of our group is at the bottom/center of the above image.)

Chattajack 2017

The Chattajack 31 is on many SUP Cayugan's radar this year as an event to attend and complete so consider the adventure!

What is it.......... "31 miles through the Tennessee River Gorge…Chattajack is a paddleboard/kayak race unlike any other. It is one that celebrates the effort a paddle athlete makes in the pursuit of distance endurance. Fueled with passion on the water, these individuals love to dig, testing their personal limits while completing this unique gorge course."

Important things to consider are training, road tripping AND getting registered on May 1st as it does sell out. We already a group of 5 considering teaming up so let me know if this is something that interests you.

Giving Trash the Bird! Spring Trash Clean-up

April 2nd form 11 to 1 pm behind Tops in Ithaca

Hosted by Paul Closs and the Glorious Trash Birds here is how Cookies describes the event, "Lets give trash the bird! Trash birds that is! This is an annual gathering of people with the desire to help keep our waterways clean. Towards this goal we will meet behind Tops and collect trash and debris from along the wetlands area.

Trash bags and rubber gloves will be provided.. However I strongly recommend bring some sturdier gloves and rubber boots if you have them. (It will be extremely muddy in spots) Dress weather appropriate, as well as in clothes you don’t mind getting dirty.

This event is kid friendly as long as you can keep an eye on them. Please feel free to bring a camera and take pictures!"

Beginning the first Tuesday of June (June 6th) we begin our Cayuga Lake racing/time trial series. Part race, part party, it's a wonderful way to get some exercise, meet fellow paddlers, win some prizes, and enjoy some hot dogs and refreshments. The race is a 1.8 mile time trial - we start you individually (when you are ready), instead of enmass. All starts occur between 6pm and 7pm.

We reward new personal records (PR's), so you are just racing against yourself, trying to better your time. We encourage individuals to come and join us and we also encourage friends and workgroups to take up the challenge - to see who can turn in the fastest time. The cost is only $5 per person and if you need to rent a boat its just $10 more (rentals are limited)! Canoes, kayaks, surfski's and SUPs are all welcome.

Start Time: Anytime between 6pm and 7pm.

Awards: 7:30pm

Thursday Night Group Paddle

We are planning to paddle Thursday nights out of Myers Park no matter what the conditions are as a way to build paddlers skills no matter what the weather gives us. We do not have a start date or time so we will rely on your input to determine the logistics. All are invited and we can work on technique, discuss safety and support Paddle-N-More and Lansing businesses. Please let me know if you have any questions or suggestions.
