New Staff - 2019
Ms Emily Trott is joining the teaching team at Castle Hill in 2019. She will be teaching Year 1. Emily has recently graduated from Avondale College of Higher Education. She is interested in Art, handcrafts, outdoor education and growing plants – something that has expanded into a small business. Emily undertook two service trips to Cambodia which cemented the decision to pursue a career that made a difference in the lives of others. Ms Trott is engaged to Nicholas Honeyands, who is completing a business degree at Avondale College. We welcome Emily to the team
Joining the Mathematics Department on the Kellyville campus is Mr Lawrence Ku. Mr Ku joins us from Oakhill College (2017-18) where he was teaching science and mathematics. Lawrence has Science and Education degrees from Macquarie University. In previous school employment Mr Ku has supervised the Chess team and coached basketball. He is known for his thorough teaching, creating project-based assessments and providing differentiated and inclusive learning environments. We look forward to having Mr Ku on our team in the new year.
College Announcements & News
Did You Know?
Have you ever wondered who is the fantastic talent behind our "Term in Review" videos? Who has an amazing flair for photography at our school events? Two of our teaching staff, Mr Gates & Miss Menzies, take the extra time out of their already busy schedules (its amazing how much work teachers have to complete after saying farewell to your children each day), to share their creative talents for the benefit of our College. We have appreciated the professionalism they bring to promoting the College to prospective families, and the commitment they have shown to produce a record of your child's time at Hills that they can be proud of.
Mr Mitchell Gates (videography) and Miss Tarsha Menzies (photography) are just two of the talented and dedicated teaching staff here, but we want to thank them for working behind the scenes to create memories for our students and our families. So next time you are at a school event, and see these two teachers with cameras in hand, be sure to smile!

This week, the Year 9 students completed their Invictus program by preparing and serving a meal to the Year 8 students. This was an opportunity for them to welcome the Year 8 students into Senior School and the Invictus program for 2019. Year 9 worked hard cooking the meal and setting everything up to make sure that Year 8 would have a good time. The feedback from the Year 8 students showed they enjoyed the event and the Year 9 students experienced the joy of serving and doing something nice for someone else.

Number Crunch - Year 5 & 6
In the first two weeks of the term, Year 5 & 6 students participated in Number Crunch in the MPC over 2 sessions. This Mathematics relay is a competition where students work in groups of 3-4 students from their House to solve as many mathematical problems as they can in the time given.
Our top 6 teams were awarded with certificates and medals for first place in Assembly this week.
The winning team completed every question and won a bonus ten points for their speed and accuracy.
Seth B, Kaya V, Timothy J and Kai S worked hard for those first place Medallions. Their 518 points helped Phillip House come second with a total of 1781 points.
Brendan H, Cyril A and Koby M came a close second on 498 points. Their points helped Hunter house win.
Two teams were equal third, one was for Phillip and the other for Hunter. This means there were many other Hunter teams that competed well; adding their totals together to win with 2072 points.
A special Medallion was presented to Mrs Grice for the time and efficient effort she gave to the preparation of the papers and marking.
Thanks also to all the Yr5 and 6s who helped Mrs Ashby set up and clean up the MPC, some gave of their own time to get the job done. Merits were awarded for this extra service.
