Spinal Cord Injury by: christopher Montoya

Michael Irvin was one of the best wide receivers of his time with a total of 78 receptions in 1992. He lead his team to two super bowls back-to-back. a few years following this in 1999 Michael Irvin suffered from a spinal cord injury during a game against the Philadelphia Eagles. After playing just four games that season he took his doctors advice and announced his retirement. The injury he received was less severe than it could have been due to the fact that he was diagnosed with a narrow spinal column. his spinal cord injury is just one of many that players have suffered from, but with the advancement in technology and stricter rules the chance of injury is far less now.
