The Early Learning "Tiny Town" playground is an interactive and imaginative play area that addresses a broader spectrum of play needs through opportunities for make-believe and socio-cooperative play. The design is centered on creating an immersive experience where our young learners interact and operate their own town, ASES Tiny Town. From roads and signs to gas stations and grocery stores, our students can decide what happens in Tiny Town. The reason this playground is so perfectly targeted to our young learners is because it was designed by 6th grade students. In the 2016-2017 school year, 6th grade students began a design-thinking challenge and identified the playground as an area that needed improvement. They began the project with empathy exercises, defining user problems, ideating solutions, prototyping with 3D printers, and then testing their designs before continuing with improved iterations of the designs. The result is a child-centric, imaginative, interactive play experience.
