SHIRLEY CLAIRE WILLIAMS

Oil Painting

Shirley paints directly from life, finding inspiration in anything of aesthetic interest. Particularly drawn to the ephemeral beauty of her garden, and to the vast and varied landscape of the North Shore, she regularly spends time outdoors, producing small oil studies which she uses to inspire larger paintings in her North Vancouver studio. Time spent in the garden, at the seashore, and in the quiet grandness of the forest offers an immersive experience she finds essential, guiding the direction the paintings will take by providing an important connection to the essence of the scene she wishes to share.
