Where did the idea come from?
Andy: We were travelling back from a family holiday in Spain and my daughter and I were drawing pictures to pass away the time. She asked if I would draw some golf characters and the more I looked at the characters on the page, the more my mind raced with ideas as to how they could be used to get more children playing golf.
Golf Kidz Activity Pack
Andy: Through my role in Seapoint Golf Club, I have often watched young children coming to the club to wait on their older siblings or to attend a family meal and I would think, there has to be a fun way to help children pass away this time that connects them to golf. That is where the "Golf Kidz" activity pack came from. Those doodles from the plane became the characters:
- Bobby Ball
- Peggy Putter
- Billy Buggy
- Missy Tee
- Gary Golf Bag
These characters, helped form the 10 page activity pack that includes five original character colouring pages, two dot to dots, a golf word search and a junior golf quiz.
What is next for Golf Kidz?
Andy: I have just launched a brand new website, designed by one of the Seapoint Golf Club members Ben Reynolds (3 bit designs). This is the first step in getting Golf Kidz launched. My aim is to send out a copy of the activity pack to all Golf Clubs in Leinster and hopefully clubs will see it as an opportunity to encourage more people to the game as well as grow their revenue.
We will have a stand at the Irish Golf Expo in City West, Dublin on 25th & 26th February 2017. This will be a fantastic opportunity for golf clubs and families to see the product.
There will also be a range of t-shirts and coloured balls with the Golf Kidz characters on them launched later this year as well as further developments to the website and characters!
CGI will be keeping in touch with Andy and reporting on his venture throughout the year, in the meantime - find out more about Golf Kidz, by clicking here.
