County Training Officers Conference 2017 CTc yardlEy chase

Over 16th & 17th September, County Training Officers (CTO’s) from across the U.K. & Northern Ireland attended the Annual CTO Conference at Cadet Training Centre (CTC) Yardley Chase, in Northamptonshire.

54 of 57 Counties attended.

The conference provides an opportunity for CTO’s to be brought up to speed with the latest training and safety policies, as well as other legislation & best practice.

In addition, a fantastic selection of Key Note speakers provided information about further opportunits available through the Army Cadet Force, such as;

Vocational qualifications for cadets and CFAV’s through CVQO.
Adventurous Training courses & qualification through the Cadet Centre for Adventure Training (CCAT).
The Initial Officer Training (IOT) process for newly commissioned ACF Officers.

The CVQO 2017 Duke of Westminster Award Winner, Miss Scanio, explained about her journey through the award and her expedition to South Africa.

Major R Ridders (RE) - Chairman of the Army LGBT Forum.

An informative and engaging presentation about ensuring diversity and inclusion for LGBT Cadets & CFAV’s in the ACF.

As well as an alternative view on remote training from Shetland and Orkney ACF.

The event also hosted a selection of connected Charities and Trade Stands.

Overall the Conference provides CTO’s with the opportunity to swap ideas and best practice, together with the tools, imagination and innovation to provide exciting, fun and safe training for all members of the Army Cadet Force for the future.
