Polaris Industries Inc. is the largest manufacturer of snowmobiles in the world and the second largest maker of all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), trailing only Honda Motor Co., Ltd. It introduced a line of motorcycles in 1998, but it no longer makes personal watercraft, having exited from that sector in 2004. The company entered into a partnership with and bought a 24 percent stake in the Austrian motorcycle firm KTM Power Sports AG in 2005. Although best known as a snowmobile maker, Polaris now generates only about 14 percent of its revenues from its line of snow machines; ATVs account for fully two-thirds of sales, while motorcycles comprise the firm's fastest growing sector though only about 5 percent of overall sales. The remaining revenues come from the sales of parts, garments, and accessories.
