Tempera Techniques Process Board

Final self-portrait on textured painted paper.

1.) Apply two painting techniques to your paper.

I applied paint straight to the paper and used a mat board to spread it around. Using a paint roller, I applied texture to the certain areas of the background.

2.) Sketch in your self-portrait with white charcoal pencil. Using your charcoal come back in to shade in the darker areas. And then come back in again with the white pencil to add final highlights.

Looking in a mirror, I sketched in the outline with white charcoal pencil. I came back with black charcoal and blending stick to fill in areas and finally, finished off with a little more highlighting.
