Teachers receive grants NANCY KENNEDY/Chronicle

On Wednesday, four Citrus County teachers were surprised to learn they were winners of the CenturyLink Clark M. Williams Foundation’s Teacher and Technology grant. A total of $16,760 was divided between four local schools: Lecanto Primary School was awarded $3,024 to purchase Osmo, an innovative, highly engaging learning-play system providing a science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) experience; Crystal River Middle School received $4,370 for iPads and charging stations; CREST School received $4,415 for assistive technology and software designed to help students with disabilities; and Citrus Springs Elementary School received $4,950 to incorporate Apple TV into the classroom.
