To do this, we build systemic solutions in partnership with local organizations, businesses, and governments that create thriving, resilient communities where those we serve are heard, capable and vibrant.

Pact is a recognized global leader in international development. Our staff have a range of expertise in areas including public health, capacity development, governance and civil society, natural resource management, poverty, fragile states, monitoring and evaluation, small-scale and artisanal mining, microfinance and more. This expertise is combined in Pact’s unique integrated approach, which focuses on systemic changes needed to improve people’s lives.

Mark Viso, President and CEO

Mark Viso is president & CEO of Pact, an international organization based in Washington, DC that envisions a world where everyone owns their future. Pact works in 40 countries worldwide, building systemic solutions in partnership with local organizations, businesses and governments so that there are thriving, resilient communities where people are heard, capable and vibrant.

Mark brings more than 25 years of international development experience along with a deep appreciation of creative, entrepreneurial approaches to solving complex development challenges. His vision for Pact is rooted in his belief that global impact results from development projects that are locally designed, implemented in partnership with the community and grounded in a uniquely integrated approach that seeks to transform lives holistically.

Before taking up the helm at Pact, Mark served as senior vice president for international programs at World Learning. He came to World Learning after 12 years at World Vision, where he was responsible for programs in 80 countries.

A proud native of California, Mark has lived and worked in Africa, Asia, the Middle East and Eastern Europe. In his career, Mark has served on numerous boards, including as a founding member of the EKI Micro Credit Organization Board, an executive member of the NGO/World Bank PRSP Consultative Commission and several other international development nonprofit and membership organization boards.
