speak final project By Trevor Johnson

Speak is a book about overcoming obstacles. Melinda Sordino is a freshman student at Merryweather High School. She is shy,and antisocial, and has no friends, but the only reason why she is so self-centered is because of the secret she holds from everyone that took place in the summer break before the start of the school year.

“I have survived. I am here. Confused, screwed up, but here. So, how can I find my way? Is there a chain saw of the soul, an ax I can take to my memories or fears?”-Melinda Sordino,Laurie Halse Anderson

Melinda is afraid to speak to anyone. Nobody likes her. During summer break,Melinda was at a party with her friend, during the party, she got drunk and got raped. This is a pretty hard topic to talk about but that is why this book is so powerful. Laurie Halse Anderson's "Speak" is voted 4.5/5 by Barnes and Noble,Goodreads, and many more companies,it is taught in schools and considered one the greatest books of all time.

"Speak" is related to a growing problem in high school student, giving it an excellent reason for high school students to read this, just as anyone else.
