Studio: Painting Discussion Board 5

My Thumbnails experiments include a section where I explored different viscosities of paint, washes with water and glazing medium, scumbling, impasto, sgraffito, and mixed media.

These were all done on a canvas board.
I decided to explore the Mixed Media further.

I chose a heavy mixed media paper as my surface. I painted a background color and then picked out some papers. After cutting the shapes I wanted, I adhered them to the painted surface using Matte Medium and a soft brush. I also applied the medium over the surface of all the papers I added.

More paint was added to put in lines, shapes, and details.
I used a stamp and archival ink to add some text.

The finished work!

If I were to repeat this process, I'd like to try it on a canvas panel or stretched canvas. The paper worked great but did curl slightly.
