TOMOKO zen + Soul singer songwriter

TOMOKO is a Japanese singer songwriter who expertly blends Eastern spiritualism and American soul music.

As a young girl, growing up in Osaka, Japan, TOMOKO was swept away by American pop and soul music, greatly influenced by Stevie Wonder’s masterpiece, “Songs in the Key of Life”. Her dream, passion and determination have brought herself to perform on big stages such as Blue Note NYC and NBC X’ams Special.

TOMOKO’s music is filled with heartfelt and emotional lyrics which depict her life between the Land of the Rising Sun and her journey of living in America. With her silky smooth sultry voice, TOMOKO mesmerizes all who listen to her music.

Some of her musical influences are Stevie Wonder, Nina Simone, Minnie Riperton, Natalie Cole, Whitney Houston, Alicia Keys, and Paula Lima.

As a singer and songwriter, TOMOKO keeps creating innovative music that can truly be described as spiritual, sensual and most of all, global.

As a creative artist and writer, TOMOKO keeps creating video series “One Minute JapaNEWS” to introduce to the world the Japanese language&culture in small bites, and is working on to complete her first book “JapaNEWS”.
